3. Quotes and Pricing

We aim to provide clear and transparent pricing before work begins.

Where possible, we may provide an estimate by phone, message, email, or through the website. Final pricing may vary if:

  • The issue is different from what was described
  • Additional faults are found on inspection
  • Additional parts are required
  • The lock, door, frame, mechanism, or hardware is more complex than expected
  • Extra work is requested by the customer

We advertise no call-out fees. This means we do not charge a separate attendance fee where work is carried out. However, if we attend and the customer cancels after arrival, refuses access, provides incorrect information, or no authorised person is present, a reasonable attendance or cancellation charge may apply.

All prices will be confirmed before work begins wherever reasonably possible.

4. Bookings, Access and Customer Responsibilities

When booking a service, you must provide accurate information, including your name, contact details, address, and a description of the issue.

You confirm that you are authorised to request locksmith work at the property. We may ask for proof of identity, proof of address, ownership, tenancy, or authorisation before opening, replacing, or fitting locks.

We reserve the right to refuse or stop work if:

  • We are not satisfied that you have authority to access the property
  • The situation appears suspicious, unsafe, unlawful, or abusive
  • The property cannot be accessed safely
  • Payment is refused or cannot be confirmed
  • Continuing the work could cause unreasonable damage or risk

You are responsible for ensuring that someone authorised is present at the property unless otherwise agreed.

5. Payment Terms

Payment is due immediately upon completion of the work unless agreed otherwise in writing.

We accept payment methods shown on the website, including card and Apple Pay where available. We may also accept other payment methods by agreement.

Goods and materials remain the property of Max The Locksmith until payment has been received in full.

If payment is not made when due, we reserve the right to recover reasonable costs incurred in collecting the outstanding amount.

6. Parts, Materials and Availability

We aim to carry common locks, mechanisms, handles, cylinders, and parts. However, some specialist parts may need to be ordered.

Where a part is unavailable, obsolete, or delayed by a supplier, we will advise you and discuss suitable alternatives where possible.

Any parts supplied will be suitable for the agreed work, but we cannot guarantee exact matches in brand, finish, design, or colour unless specifically agreed before ordering.

7. Warranty

Where stated, we provide a 12-month warranty on labour and parts supplied by us.

The warranty covers faults caused by defective parts supplied by us or faulty workmanship.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Customer misuse, neglect, accidental damage, or deliberate damage
  • Existing faults not caused by our work
  • Door, frame, alignment, or structural movement after the work
  • Damage caused by attempted break-ins, vandalism, or third parties
  • Weather damage, rust, swelling, warping, or general wear and tear
  • Parts supplied by the customer
  • Any work altered, removed, adjusted, or repaired by another person after our visit

To make a warranty claim, contact us as soon as possible with details of the issue. We may need to inspect the work before confirming whether the warranty applies.

8. Cancellations

You may cancel a booking by contacting us as soon as possible.

If you cancel before we have travelled to your property, no charge will usually apply.

If you cancel after we have travelled, after arrival, or after parts have been ordered specifically for your job, we may charge a reasonable fee to cover our time, travel, or costs already incurred.

For emergency locksmith work, you acknowledge that the service may begin before the usual consumer cancellation period ends. If you ask us to begin work immediately, you may lose the right to cancel once the work has been completed.

9. Damage and Limitations

We always aim to carry out work carefully and professionally. However, some locksmith work may involve risk of damage, especially where locks are faulty, seized, damaged, previously forced, incorrectly fitted, or where non-destructive entry is not possible.

We will not be responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, poor previous installation, weakened doors or frames, or damage that is unavoidable in order to gain entry or complete the agreed work.

Our liability is limited to the cost of the service provided, except where the law does not allow such limitation, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Customer-Supplied Parts

If you ask us to fit parts supplied by you, we are not responsible for the quality, suitability, compatibility, durability, warranty, or performance of those parts.

We may refuse to fit customer-supplied parts if we consider them unsafe, unsuitable, poor quality, incompatible, or likely to cause future issues.

11. After-Burglary and Security Advice

Any security advice we provide is based on our professional opinion at the time of inspection. We cannot guarantee that a property will be completely secure or that a burglary, attempted burglary, lock failure, or unauthorised access will not occur in future.

You remain responsible for deciding what security measures to install and for checking any insurance requirements relating to locks, doors, windows, and security standards.
