How Max The Locksmith Started
Max never planned to be a locksmith. The way it happened is half the reason the business runs the way it does.
Before locks, Max worked in import/export for Mitsubishi over in the Netherlands — steady, well-paid, and honestly a bit monotonous. Then, on a week spent visiting a friend in Belfast, everything changed. His friend was interviewing with a large national locksmith firm, a training place came up that very week, and Max — with no real idea what he was getting himself into — dived straight in.
He learned the trade properly, working as part of one of the UK’s largest national locksmith companies alongside more than 90 technicians across the country. It taught him the craft — and it also showed him exactly how the big operators work. Max knew he could do it better, and more honestly, on his own. So he did.
Max The Locksmith was established in 2018 and has run full-time since 2023. For years it was just Max — one locksmith, building a name the hard way, job by job, until the genuine five-star reviews stacked up past 450.
But working solo has a ceiling. Some jobs simply need more than two hands and a second sharp, experienced brain — heavy units, complex multi-point failures, the work where a backup isn’t a luxury but the difference between a clean job and a botched one. So Max built a team: first Dave, then Ian, and most recently Alex. Today, Max The Locksmith is a small, experienced, genuinely local crew — and every one of us is a name you can put a face to.

Heavy Sliding Entrance — Three-Man Strip-Down
A wide residential sliding entrance: hinges replaced on the main door to restore correct mechanism function, with the full sliding unit stripped right down because of how the system is built. So wide and heavy it took three of us to repair it safely.
Commercial Double Doors — Dorma Kaba Closers
A commercial entrance with dangerously failed closers and pivots. Full double-door disassembly, pivots replaced and re-adjusted, and fitted with Dorma Kaba door closers.
Custom Heavy Sliding Door
A heavy, custom-made sliding door with a complex locking system — full disassembly required to reach and repair the mechanism properly.
Bank Entrance — Full Locking System Replaced
A bank entrance with a completely failed locking system. The whole locking unit had to be replaced rather than patched — security-critical work on a high-traffic door, done properly.
