Every Security Product Max Installs
Each upgrade below addresses a specific vulnerability. Max advises on which applies to your property.
TS007 Anti-Snap Cylinder
The single most effective upgrade for any uPVC or composite door. Resists lock snapping — the most common forced-entry method in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. 15 minutes to fit. Key operation unchanged. Most common size in stock on the van. From £85 fitted.
BS3621 Mortice Deadlock
The insurance-standard lock for timber front and back doors. British Standard rated, approved by police and most insurers. Required by many household insurance policies on final-exit timber doors. Max advises on the right specification for your door.
Sash Jammer
Fitted to the frame of uPVC doors and windows, a sash jammer prevents the door from being forced open even if the lock is compromised. Simple, highly effective, and inexpensive. Typically fitted in pairs on each door.
Hinge Bolts
Fitted to the hinge side of outward-opening doors. Hinge bolts lock the hinge side of the door into the frame, preventing the door being forced off its hinges even if the hinges themselves are attacked. Essential on outward-opening timber doors.
Letterbox Protector / Restrictor
Prevents fishing attacks through the letterbox (hooking keys from the hall table) and stops a hand or tool reaching the door latch. A simple, inexpensive fitting that closes one of the most commonly exploited entry methods.
Key Safe Installation
Key safes allow secure access for carers, family members or emergency services without needing to share a key. Position is critical — poor placement undermines security. Max advises on the right model and location and installs to manufacturer specification.

Security Upgrades — Questions Answered
Anti-Snap Cylinders
What is an anti-snap cylinder?
A TS007 3-star anti-snap cylinder is engineered to resist the most common forced-entry attack on uPVC and composite doors — lock snapping. A standard euro cylinder can be snapped in under 20 seconds. An anti-snap cylinder sacrifices a designed break point before reaching the mechanism, leaving the door still locked even after a snap attempt.
How do I know if my door is vulnerable to lock snapping?
Check whether your euro cylinder protrudes more than 3mm from the door face. If it does, it can be snapped. Max can assess this over the phone or on arrival. The vast majority of uPVC and composite doors in Nottingham properties built before 2015 have standard cylinders that are vulnerable.
Does an anti-snap cylinder affect how my key works?
No. The key and operation are identical to a standard cylinder — the same key, the same turn, the same feel. The protection is internal. Most people cannot tell the difference from using a standard cylinder.
How long does it take to fit an anti-snap cylinder?
15–20 minutes per door. Most common sizes are carried on the van. New keys are included.
How much does an anti-snap cylinder cost?
Anti-snap cylinder replacement starts from £85 plus parts. Parts typically range from £15 to £60 for most standard door sizes. An accurate price is confirmed over the phone.
Insurance & Standards
Do I need a BS3621 lock for my insurance?
Many insurers require BS3621 rated locks on final exit timber doors. For uPVC and composite doors, a TS007 3-star anti-snap cylinder typically satisfies insurer requirements. Check your policy wording — Max can advise on what your specific door type requires.
Will a security upgrade reduce my insurance premium?
Some insurers reduce premiums for properties with TS007 cylinders or BS3621 locks. Check with your insurer directly. A written record of the upgrade — which Max provides — may be required.
What does Secured by Design mean?
Secured by Design is a UK Police initiative that approves products meeting specific security standards. TS007 3-star cylinders and BS3621 mortice locks both align with Secured by Design recommendations. Max only fits products from reputable manufacturers meeting these standards.
General Security
What are the most common ways burglars get in?
In Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, the most common methods are: (1) lock snapping on uPVC doors — addressed by a TS007 cylinder, (2) forcing the door — addressed by hinge bolts and sash jammers, (3) through the letterbox to hook keys — addressed by a letterbox restrictor, (4) opportunist unlocked doors or windows — addressed by habits, not hardware.
Can you do a security audit of my whole property?
Yes. Max carries out full security assessments on any property. This covers: cylinder vulnerability, hinge security, window lock security, letterbox risk, garage and outbuilding security, and key management. Assessments are available by appointment across Nottingham, Derby and Mansfield.
How do I make my home more secure without spending a lot?
The highest-impact low-cost upgrade is always the TS007 anti-snap cylinder. After that: sash jammers on uPVC doors (around £20–£30 each), a letterbox restrictor, and making sure all ground-floor windows are locked before leaving the property. Max advises on priorities based on your specific property layout.
Do you install key safes for elderly or disabled residents?
Yes. Key safe installation is available across Nottingham, Derby and Mansfield. Max advises on the right model and location for your specific property and needs. Positioning is critical for both security and ease of access.
